The Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Introductory Program, offered by the English Language Center (ELC) and the Global Education Office (GEO), will introduce the foundations of teaching English as a foreign language. The program aims to provide students with a basic introduction to language learning and cross-cultural awareness through workshop sessions, personal interaction with international students, and observations of TEFL classroom settings.
The program was created for students interested in teaching English as a foreign language, potential study abroad students, and for study-abroad returnees who are seeking ways to apply their cultural experiences.
The TEFL Introductory Program is taught at Vanderbilt and usually comprises six 2-hour workshop sessions. The program is open to currently enrolled VU students who are in good academic standing and VU affiliated scholars interested in teaching non-native English speakers.
We will next offer the TEFL program in Spring 2012.
