Parent Ambassador Program

Welcome Parents of Prospective and Returning Study Abroad Students! We greatly appreciate your interest in the Parent Ambassador Program and look forward to connecting VU parents with each other.

What is the Parent Ambassador Program?

The Global Education Office (GEO), in conjunction with the Office of Parents & Family Programs, works with parents of students who have studied abroad as part of the Parent Ambassador Program.

Parents of prospective study abroad students have many questions about the programs, safety and security issues and how to help their student have a rewarding global experience. Experienced parents are a great resource to answer these questions and the Parent Ambassador Program was established to connect these two groups. GEO also welcomes the feedback and input of our Parent Ambassadors regarding our Parent Handbook and how we can best provide information on costs, deadlines, visas and programmatic content prior to their students' departure.

How do I become a Parent Ambassador if my student studied abroad?

Please send an email to GEO (geo@vanderbilt.edu) with the following information:

Your name, your student's name, where your student studied abroad, and the best way for a prospective parent to contact you.

**GEO will field all requests from prospective parents via email before sharing any Parent Ambassador contact information. GEO will confirm that the prospective parent has a currently enrolled VU student before providing the Parent Ambassador contact information.**

How do I get in contact with a Parent Ambassador if my student wants to study abroad and I have questions?

Please email GEO (geo@vanderbilt.edu) with your student's name and where they would like to study abroad. If you have general questions about study abroad those are welcome as well and please indicate that in your email.

Thank you to our Parent Ambassadors for their willingness to act as a resource for our prospective study abroad parents! We hope that this program will enhance parents overall interest and knowledge of the benefits that study abroad can have on their students' undergraduate careers!
