To safeguard the well being of our students, safety protocols have been developed for all students going abroad on VU-sponsored activities. The purpose of the new guidelines is to make sure that we have a central repository of all VU students abroad at any one time as well as to make sure that these students (and when applicable, faculty directors) are properly briefed, insured, and otherwise prepared for travel abroad. This process has been worked out in close collaboration with the university's Office of General Counsel and all related forms have been carefully vetted and approved by their staff. All undergraduate students participating in Vanderbilt-sponsored activities abroad are required to register their travel. For more information about what kinds of travel require registration, consult the Student International Travel Policy.
If you plan to travel to a country currently under a travel warning issued by the Department of State, please contact the Vanderbilt International Office, as your trip may need prior approval from the Study Abroad Risk Assessment Committee (SARAC).
